Bike sharing is the latest trend in easy and eco-friendly transportation, and this past Friday, McHenry County residents, business leaders and politicians attended the launch party held at the McHenry Recreation Center for this new countywide bike share program!
A Boston-based company called Zagster joined with Visit McHenry County to bring bike-sharing stations to McHenry County. You can find 6 bike stations; Crystal Lake, McHenry County College , Woodstock – Woodstock Metra Station, McHenry County Administration Building, McHenry – McHenry Recreation Center and Richmond – Doyle’s Pub.
I was asked to come out and photograph the launch to help Visit McHenry County and all the investors capture this amazing program so they could promote it here in McHenry County. There were many individuals who put a lot of hard work in to help launch this program, including Jaki Berggren, Dorothy Wolf and The Bike Haven in McHenry/Woodstock who helped by building and storing the Zagster bikes before the program launched this past week.
It was great to see everyone, including both mayors from McHenry and Woodstock, come together to test out the bikes, give thanks to everyone who invested and to celebrate what we hope to be another successful thing coming to McHenry and the surrounding towns.
HOW IT WORKS:
Step 1: Choose a bike at one of our 6 docking stations
Step 2: Find the bike number
Step 3: Enter this number into the Zagster app
Step 4: Unlock your bike
Step 5: RIDE!
